A 41-year-old right-handed woman was admitted with an acute onset of speech disturbance and confusion. On examination, she had impoverished speech, characterized by single words and perseveration, together with comprehension difficulties. Physical examination was normal, with no fever and purpuric lesions. Two months before, she had experienced a right quadrantanopia that lasted a week.
