Abstract
The diagnosis of thromboembolic diseases throughout the vascular system has been conducted with varying degrees of success by x-ray, ultrasound, CT, and MRI. Recently, a variety of potential molecular targets have been identified for early thrombus detection. This article describes these potential targets and the application of several imaging modalities currently being investigated to more accurately diagnose thrombosis and embolism.
