Endotracheal intubation allows a clear airway for positive pressure ventilation and protects the respiratory tract from aspiration of gastric contents. However, placing the endotracheal tube is difficult in some patients with the risk of damaging the airways. In addition, placing the endotracheal tube in the esophagus can occur with potentially fatal consequences. Three papers were published in Journal of Clinical Monitoring and Computing during 2014 on visualization of the airways during endotracheal intubation and for verification of correct placement. …
