“Rheumatism” is a word used to describe disorders that are associated with inflammation of the muscles, joints, and associated structures. The word “rheumatology” was first used in 1949 to refer to the “study of rheumatism” [1]. The scope of rheumatology has widened immensely since then to include disorders associated with inflammation of multiple internal organs in addition to the musculoskeletal system. Since inflammation is the primary mechanism, rheumatology has a close association with immunology. …
