Abstract

A case of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), which has been diagnosed as inflammatory granuloma at the first time and treated with laser ablation, because it has an atypical clinical history, including a short course of tumor development, spontaneous hemorrhage from lesion, and ulceration in surface. The lesion recurred rapidly and underwent a surgical resection of the tumor with margins being negative. Histopathological examinations revealed the final diagnosis of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. No recurrence has been observed with 1-year follow-up. This case indicates that dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans may have non-typical morphology; early biopsy in rapidly growing nodule is necessary.
