Nevus Lipomatosus Cutaneous Superficialis

Abstract

Nevus lipomatosus cutaneous superficialis (NLCS) is a rare, benign cutaneous hamartoma. It is characterized by the presence of mature adipose tissue aggregates among the dermal collagen bundles. While encountering a case of NLCS, differential diagnoses of neurofibroma, angiolipoma, lipomatosis, acrochordon, fibroepithelial polyp, nevus sebaceous and connective tissue nevus should be borne in mind and ruled out. Knowledge of this uncommon neoplasm would ensure early diagnosis and counselling regarding its benign nature to alleviate anxiety of patients.
