We would like to express our appreciation to Lee et al. for showing great interest and critically analyzing the study we had published
1. They have raised valid concerns regarding the duration of stoppage of Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPI). As they have pointed out from the study by Shin et al
2, various PPI agents such as omeprazole, lansoprazole, and pantoprazole showed different times for the recovery of gastric acid secretion following stoppage of the drug. Pantoprazole had the longest duration at 45.9 hours. This would mean that the various drugs would have to be stopped for varying time durations to have the desired effect as suggested by Lee et al. …
