Poor nutritional status of cancer patients has been reported to have an impact on cancer treatment and outcomes.
1 Hypoalbuminemia observed in cancer patients usually is regarded as a reliable index for malnutrition. For patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), hypoalbuminemia suggests both malnutrition due to HCC and decreased hepatic functional reserve due to chronic liver disease.
2 A poor nutritional state and hypoalbuminemia in patients with HCC have been associated with worse survival.
