Excerpt

Obtaining “frozen” resection margins during pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) is a common practice, but the benefit of re-resecting positive margins has been debated. Recently, several large studies have suggested that resection of positive neck margins does not improve survival after PD.1,2 However, there is other evidence that contradicts these findings.3,4 For this reason, we sought to add more conclusive evidence to this discussion and performed a retrospective cohort study to assess the impact of resecting all commonly obtained margins—pancreatic neck, uncinate, and bile duct—separately and together.5
