Stress echocardiography for the detection and assessment of coronary artery disease

Stress echocardiography is one of the most widely used non-invasive techniques for the diagnosis and risk stratification of patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease (CAD). Since its introduction in 1979,1 improvements in image quality and other technological advances, such as harmonic imaging, digital imaging displays, and contrast, have made stress echocardiography a reliable and reproducible modality for the evaluation of CAD.2,3
