Gallbladder cancer is a relatively rare disease and its prognosis remains poor, as most patients present at advanced tumor stage [1]. The clinical presentations of gallbladder cancer and gallstone disease are difficult to distinguish from each other. Therefore, early detection is of vital importance for the successful treatment of gallbladder cancer. Despite the comprehensive use of modern imaging modalities such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging or endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, it is difficult at times to discover the gallbladder cancer at an early stage. …
