A 33-year-old male was found to have a progressive right thyroid mass causing tracheal deviation and discomfort. His past medical history was remarkable for a gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) resected 10 years ago, with recurrent peritoneal disease 5 years ago then subsequently liver and lung metastases developing 2 years ago. An initial CT of the head and neck identified a 2.9-cm hypodense heterogenous right thyroid nodule which showed significant growth by reaching a size of 7.1 cm in less than 6-month interval. Subsequent to a right thyroid core biopsy procedure, which yielded the diagnosis, the patient underwent right hemithyroidectomy. …
