I first met Blanca about two years ago in urgent care. I had twenty minutes with her, and as always, was running fifteen minutes behind. She had long black hair she wore in a tidy braid that hung down her back. She was quite overweight. She’d gone to the ED a few weeks earlier with pyelonephritis, but said she felt better after the antibiotics. With what I hoped was an efficient more than perfunctory manner, I checked her flanks for CVA tenderness. There was none. She was overdue for a pap smear, and she agreed to come back and see me for this another time. …
