We are fighting the threat of a new, frightening pandemic that is changing lives in ways that were unimaginable. As individuals try to make sense of the COVID-19 crisis and take care of their loved ones, it is easy for the public to forget about co-occurring epidemics of opioids, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), viral hepatitis, gun violence, and incarceration to name a few. COVID-19 is eroding already-strained health systems—in addition to further reducing its capacity to adequately address HIV/AIDS prevention and care—and associated endemics of STIs. …
