A 67-year-old male with type 2 diabetes (T2DM), hypertension and untreated chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) presented with a ST-elevation myocardial infarction and a platelet count of 19 × 109/L (normal: 150 – 400 × 109/L). After acetylsalicylic acid and clopidogrel, the patient received ITP treatment including IVIG, prednisone and platelet transfusion to facilitate emergent cardiac catheterization. …
