Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma accounts for only 2 % of thyroid carcinomas, but it is one of the most aggressive human malignancies. The majority of patients have extrathyroidal invasion and/or regional lymph node metastases (≈38 %) and/or distant metastases (≈43.0 %). The median survival time is 6 months after the diagnosis and the mortality rate is higher than 90 % [
