Weight gain is a frequent complaint after neurosurgical intervention for pituitary or hypothalamic tumours. This applies in particular to extensive suprasellar operations for excision of hypothalamic tumors or pituitary macroadenomas [1]. We aimed at evaluating the extent to which these patients actually do increase their body mass index (BMI) and to identify a possible relation to pituitary insufficiency, hormone replacement therapy, and quality of life. …
