Abstract
Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a parasitic infection caused by the larvae of Echinococcus granulosus. It primarily affects the liver and the lungs but can also involve other organs such as the spleen. A 67-year-old male patient was diagnosed with cystic echinococcosis of the spleen based on a CT scan that showed a ring-like calcification in the spleen. The patient was treated conservatively with antiparasitic medication. Conservative treatment may be a suitable option for asymptomatic patients with stable cysts, but surgical intervention may be necessary if the cyst is large, causing symptoms, or has a risk of rupture. It is important to monitor patients with CE regularly to avoid complications such as rupture or dissemination.
