A 70-year-old male was referred to the gastrointestinal clinic for persistent abdominal pain for one year. He endorsed left-sided abdominal pain that typically arose 30 min after eating. He adopted a gluten-free diet, which improved but did not eliminate his pain. A serum celiac panel was negative. Proton pump inhibitory therapy was ineffective. A few months afterward, he developed intermittent loose watery stools occurring 4–5 times a day. There was no melena, red/maroon stools, hematochezia, dysphagia, nausea, or vomiting. He attributed his nearly 10 lb weight loss to his dietary changes. …
