Family-centered care (FCC) is a globally recognized collaborative approach widely accepted as the standard of care for preterm infants in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), where both the family and healthcare professionals participate in healthcare decision-making. This method fosters a mutually beneficial partnership between physicians and the families of infants, ensuring trustful relationships and transparent care [1]. An ‘actionable’ extension of FCC is Family Integrated Care (FIC), wherein parents play an active, supplementary role in the clinical care of preterm neonates. …
