The patient in Figure 1 has a history of recently diagnosed coronary artery disease. Which description of the following list best characterizes the changes in the stress radionuclide SPECT myocardial perfusion defect scores documented at 6 weeks and 6 months following the baseline scan?
(a)
Rapid healing of myocardial infarction associated with neovascularization.

(b)
Improved stress perfusion following bypass graft surgery.

(c)
Reduction of infarction size with urgent PCI.

(d)
Therapeutic reduction of stress-induced perfusion abnormalities are associated with statin therapy best visualized by SPECT or PET MPI.

(e)
Improvement of myocardial perfusion with medication is documented and can also be observed with stress echocardiography.

Answer:
(d)
Therapeutic reduction of stress-induced perfusion abnormalities are associated with statin therapy best visualized by SPECT or PET MPI.
