Abstract

Breast filariasis is a rare diagnosis that is often clinically confused with malignant breast masses or inflammatory breast carcinoma. It is a vector-borne disease seen in endemic regions and can also present in immigrated residents of these areas after several years. We present a case report of a 68-year-old lady who presented with an isolated finding of a painless breast lump. Imaging, especially ultrasound (US), helped in making a diagnosis of breast filariasis and ruling out malignancy. This was further substantiated by the fine needle aspiration (FNA) findings. The patient received treatment with diethylcarbamazine and currently is asymptomatic.
