Having health insurance is good, but keeping it over time is even better. Despite this, millions of Americans experience gaps in their health care coverage. This is a particular concern for non-elderly adults covered by Medicaid, who most commonly lose eligibility due to increases in income or loss of categorical eligibility that they have through receipt of Social Security Income (SSI) or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).
