Excerpt

Poor glycemic control is associated with increased incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in type 1 diabetes (T1DM). Disrupted sleep increases inflammation, a known contributor to CVD, in healthy individuals [1]. Young adults with T1DM have impaired sleep in comparison with healthy controls [2]. Degraded sleep architecture may contribute to chronic inflammation, ultimately increasing CVD risk. It is important to understand whether sleep plays a role in increased inflammation in individuals with T1DM as sleep is a potentially modifiable behavior. We hypothesized that sleep characteristics may mediate inflammation in young adults with T1DM. The aim was to define the relationships between sleep and the inflammatory markers interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) in young adults with T1DM. …

Keynote webinar | Spotlight on medication adherence

Live: Thursday 27th June 2024, 18:00-19:30 (CEST)

WHO estimates that half of all patients worldwide are non-adherent to their prescribed medication. The consequences of poor adherence can be catastrophic, on both the individual and population level.

Join our expert panel to discover why you need to understand the drivers of non-adherence in your patients, and how you can optimize medication adherence in your clinics to drastically improve patient outcomes.
