Chronic anal fissure (CAF) is a condition with a high prevalence and causes severe pain and quality of life impairment. Topical calcium antagonists or nitroglycerin, botulinum toxin achieve healing in most patients. Relapses after medical treatment typically require lateral internal sphincterotomy. However, this sphincterotomy has a small but consistent incidence of minor incontinence and septic complications [1]. …
