A 32-year-old female had a firearm accident 8 years previously that resulted in trauma to the spleen, left hemidiaphragm, left lung, and liver. A total splenectomy, diaphragm suturing, and drainage of the left hemithorax were performed. The surgical report noted the presence of spleen fragments in the pleural and peritoneal cavities. …
