The focal hepatic hot spot (formerly “hot quadrate”) sign represents a segment IV hyperenhancing area during the arterial or early portal venous phase of contrast-enhanced CT [1] (Fig. 1). The equivalent appearance of the focal hepatic hot spot sign has been also described in 99mTc–sulfur colloid scans of the liver and spleen. It was described as an area of increased radiotracer activity in segment IV and formerly referred to as the hot quadrate sign [2]. …
