Acute colonic pseudo-obstruction (ACPO) usually involves the caecum and right hemicolon. ACPO appears to be more common in elderly men over the age of 60. However, cases have also been reported in children. In surgical patients, post operatively, symptoms usually present at an average of five days. The calculated incidence of ACPO is approximately 100 cases out of 100,000 admissions per year. …
