Minimally invasive distal pancreatectomy (MIDP), consisting of both laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) and robot-assisted distal pancreatectomy (RDP), is considered the preferable approach for benign lesions of the pancreatic body and tail, as also supported by two randomized trials.
