Osteopathy for musculoskeletal pain: a systematic review

We read with interest the systematic review of Posadzki and Ernst on the effectiveness of osteopathy as a treatment of musculoskeletal pain [1]. After the pioneering systematic review and meta-analysis for the management of patients with low back pain of Licciardone et al. [2], this is, to our knowledge, only the second systematic review of the effects of osteopathy in the area of musculoskeletal disorders. Unfortunately, the review of Posadzki and Ernst suffers from serious drawbacks. In essence, it is based on a questionable concept and a variety of fundamental technical flaws. …
