Patients with peritoneal metastasis have limited treatment options. Cytoreductive surgery and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS/HIPEC) was shown to be an effective surgical treatment option for the management of these patients.
1,2 One underreported complication of CRS/HIPEC is bowel obstruction, which can be divided on the basis of etiology into adhesive/benign or malignant. The management of these patients, whether conservative or surgical, is complex. Benign obstructions may be managed according to known guidelines.
