We would like to comment on the SPIRIT trial by Jakob and co-workers comparing the effects of hydrolysed protein enteral nutrition (EN; Peptamen AF®) and isocaloric control polymeric whole protein feed (Isosource® Energy) on gastrointestinal feeding tolerance, including diarrhoea and feeding adequacy [
