Plus–minus lid syndrome caused by thalamic hematoma

Plus–minus lid syndrome is a very rare clinical phenomenon characterized with unilateral ptosis and contralateral primary non-compensatory eyelid retraction [14]. The main underlying reason of this clinical entity is the presence of lesions in the nucleus of posterior commissure (nPC) extending ventrocaudally to the fascicle of oculomotor nerve. The lesion is localized on the side of the ptotic eyelid. The loss of inhibitory neural projections from the nPC to the levator palpebrae superioris nucleus is the main causative reason that gives rise to the overall clinical picture [5]. …
