The definition of behavioral medicine is critically important to ISBM, members of its affiliated societies, and numerous researchers and practitioners who are working or going to work in behavioral medicine. Globally, new departments of behavioral medicine (or equivalent) have been set up. A clear definition of behavioral medicine would impact their planning and development. Such a definition would also guide the development of behavioral medicine as a discipline in the future. The authors’ work on refining the existing definition of behavioral medicine is commendable and is going to stimulate more reflections and discussions about the increasing volume of work conducted in this fast growing discipline. …
