We read with interest the recent letter-to-the-editor on targeted and minimally invasive post-mortem examination with total body computed tomography (TPM) [1]. Reasons suggested for routinely using TPM included advances in radiology, cultural reasons and caseload. TPM was recommended in suicide, natural deaths and drug related deaths, which represent a significant portion of routine casework. The registered practicing Forensic Pathologists in New Zealand (NZ) question the practicality of this approach and advocate full post-mortem with total body computed tomography (FPM). …
