Depression and diabetes mellitus

I read with interest the recent review by Chen et al. [1], in Endocrine. The authors conducted a meta-analysis on the association between depression and glucose abnormality, including pre-diabetes (PreDM), undiagnosed diabetes (UDM), and previously diagnosed diabetes (PDM). Compared with subjects with normal glucose metabolism, odds ratios (95% confidence intervals (CIs)) of PreDM, UDM and PDM for the prevalence of depression were 1.11 (1.03–1.19), 1.27 (1.02–1.59), and 1.80 (1.40–2.31), respectively. A significant association was observed among studies with mean age under 60 years old and comorbid cardiovascular diseases affected the association between depression and diabetes. I have some concerns on their study. …
