Routine measurement of parathormone (PTH) has lead to the identification of high PTH levels without hypercalcemia. This situation, which is known as normocalcemic hyperparathyroidism [1], was defined by Wills in 1962 and is established after ruling out the main causes of secondary hyperparathyroidism.
