With great interest, we read the article by Yasuura et al. [1] entitled “Solitary peribronchiolar metaplasia showing a sub-solid nodule on computed tomography”, which has recently been published in the General Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. In that report, they presented two cases of solitary peribronchiolar metaplasia. In fact, we have just encountered one similar case, which showed a similar nodule on computed tomography (CT) (Fig. 1a) and similar bronchioloalveolar growth pattern (Fig. 1b). Differently, some columnar and cuboidal cells in the upper layer were positive for TTF-1. Therefore, we diagnosed it as a bronchiolar adenoma [2]. Do solitary peribronchiolar metaplasia and bronchiolar adenoma represent an equal entity? We believe they should be recognized as a same entity.
