Excerpt

Hispanics/Latinos are the largest ethnic minority in the USA (surpassing African American and representing around 16% of the population) and are disproportionally affected by obesity.1,2 Among obese patients, those undergoing bariatric surgery have lower all-cause mortality at 5 years and up to 10 years following the procedure, as compared to those who do not have surgery.3 Previous reports, however, revealed that Hispanic obese individuals have limited access to bariatric surgery.4
