The Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers (APAHC) honors Richard W. Handel, recipient of the 2015 Bud Orgel Award for Distinguished Achievement in Research. Dr. Handel's research has been especially influential because his contributions focus on a consistent, coherent theme, namely, the uses and effectiveness of the various forms of the MMPI. Most recently, Dr. Handel has collaborated on the creation of the MMPI-A Restructured Form, a project that has extended over the past eight years, has involved tens of thousands of analyses conducted on data samples involving thousands of adolescents in normal and clinical settings. Beyond his expertise in the area of the MMPI, Dr. Handel is widely recognized for his methodological and statistical expertise.
