The dynamics of cardiovascular epidemiology

The epidemic of coronary heart disease struck first in the US early in the twentieth century, reached its summit in the 1950s and has thereafter abated [1]. A similar pattern was observed in northern and mid-Europe, Australia and New Zealand about two decades later whereas the southern part of Europe was not hit to the same extent at that time. …
