A 3-year-old girl presented to the pediatric nephrology department due to generalized edema. She was born at 24th gestational week with a birth weight of 860 g and was hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit for 3 months due to prematurity. When she was at 9 months of age, her growth rate was noticed to be well below the appropriate growth velocity for age. Neuromotor development was mildly delayed: she sat without support at 10 months of age, walked at 20 months of age. Her first tooth erupted at 21/2 years of age. She was admitted to the pediatric endocrinology outpatient clinic at the age of two due to short stature and was diagnosed as having partial growth hormone deficiency, which led to the initiation of growth hormone therapy. She was considered unresponsive to growth hormone therapy. Her parents were first cousins once removed and had a healthy 6-year-old daughter. …
