Laparoscopic gastrectomy and impact on recurrence of gastric cancer

The most pressing and daunting challenge of treating patients with advanced but potentially curable stage II and III gastric cancer is how to reduce the risk of recurrence after complete tumor resection (R0). Most efforts of biomedical research and the pharmaceutical industry to improve recurrence-free and overall survival are focused on the development of effective adjuvant therapies, but could laparoscopic R0 resections have an influence on the risk of relapse? …
