Enthesitis is a characteristic feature of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and related spondyloarthropathies [1, 2]. Treatment of refractory heel pain caused by Achilles enthesopathy, plantar fasciitis, or retrocalcaneal bursitis is one of the most challenging issues in AS or related spondyloarthropathies [3]. Heel pain in young patients with AS may cause severe disability and discontinuation of their jobs, and this therapy-resistant condition carries a socioeconomic burden [2, 4, 5]. …
