Extended Lymphadenectomy in Rectal Cancer Is Debatable

Abstract

Because of the major improvements in local control and survival with neoadjuvant combined modality therapy and total mesorectal excision, extended lymph node dissection plays a very limited role in rectal cancer surgery.
