We read with great interest the original article entitled “Risk factors for aseptic loosening in complex revision total knee arthroplasty using rotating hinge implants” by Levent et al. [1] published in November 2020 issue of the journal. We would like to congratulate the authors for their interesting study with important results, which has not been studied before. The authors determined the risk factors in detail for aseptic loosening of revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with rotating hinge knee (RHK) implants. The findings of this study are of importance because RHK is considered to be the end solution for revision TKA and prevention of its failure should be taken into account. The most important findings of their study were that smoking, right-sided prosthesis and large femoral canal diameter may increase the risk of aseptic loosening while tantalum may reduce this risk. Although they have touched a highly pertinent topic in a scientific manner, we would like to ask the authors to make our two concerns clear. …
