The “starry sky” liver

The sonographic appearance of extremely echogenic portal triads and portal venous walls on a background of diffusely hypoechoic, edematous liver parenchyma has been likened to a celestial view on a clear night: the so-called “starry sky” liver (Figs. 1, 2) [1].
