Alzheimer’s disease is defined neuropathologically by abnormal extra-cellular β-amyloid plaques combined with intraneuronal tau aggregation (neurofibrillary tangles). Observations showing that patients with different clinical presentations and evolutions share the same neuropathological features have led to the notion of an Alzheimer’s disease spectrum encompassing typical and atypical forms of Alzheimer’s disease [1, 2]. …
