Childhood tuberculosis (TB) accounts for a considerable burden of morbidity and mortality in many resource-limited settings [1]. Because of the nonspecific clinical signs and symptoms, the paucibacillary nature of TB and the difficulty in obtaining good specimens for microbiological testing, diagnosing pulmonary and extrapulmonary tuberculosis in children can be challenging.
