For many years, osteotomies were ranked among the most important surgical procedures in the treatment of unicompartmental osteoarthritis of the knee. Following the success of knee arthroplasty, they have lost a major part of their initial impact. Recent data from the national knee arthroplasty register in Sweden have shown that the preferred treatment for young osteoarthritic patients is total knee arthroplasty [
